The one man band, known as Mayo was
created in the spring of 2011. The idea is to break away
from the monotony that the mainstream music falls into.
The main instrument is the Electric Guitar, sometimes
almost naked with no effects and other times wrapped
with colorful effects. There are surprising musical song
structures, powerful sonic contrasts, and beefy
dynamics.Mayo was born on May 27, 1987 in a small
town named Presov, which is located in Slovakia, Europe.
However, he began 7th grade in Chicago in the summer of
1999.
The first time that he was enchanted by music was
when he was very young, back in Slovakia where his dad
used to blast AC/DC on the stereo. That’s where he
learned about what Rock & Roll is supposed to sound like
– loud and mean!
Mayo picked up his first guitar when he was 16. He
bought a beat up Peavey Raptor, which was a Stratocaster
at a local music shop for $75. He used to plug his
guitar straight into the radio and blast out power
chords. Later he created music that made more sense and
played it with his friends, and eventually created a
band called Overdose. Overdose had different members at
different times, but rockin’ was always the main
objective. After a while the lineup became more stable,
and songs more memorable; that’s when the band name
changed to RedCity.
After RedCity lost its longtime bassist, the band
decided to record a full length CD with Mayo on both
bass guitar and lead guitar with plans of finding a new
permanent bassist after the CD is completed. During this
time Mayo created his solo music project, and released a
full length album titled “Experiment”. Many gigs will
come soon.
