Background

McHeff was formed 15 years ago in Richie's kitchen and have been playing together ever since.

The band is made up of four members: Richie Heffernan, Michael McStay, Gerard McStay (hence the name McHeff!) from Ballyfermot and more recently Brendan Boland from Clondalkin.

The band's wide range of instruments include Uilleann pipes, guitar, mandolin, tin whistle and bodhrán. Brendan has been playing traditional music all his life and is a very accomplished banjo/bazokie/bodhrán player to name but a few. He also sings in the band (How much tallant can one man have?) Brendan, among his talents, is a world champion and 5 times all Ireland bag-piper learning his trade with St Joseph's pipe band in Clondalkin.

McHeff play a wide range of traditional Irish music and Ballads. They have played gigs all over Ireland and as far afield as the south of France and Portugal. The highlight of their Irish gigs was when they played for Dublin's Lord Mayor in the Mansion House.
